Veterans in the Big Sky

American Veterans have played a vital role in the creation, building and enhancement of our nation.  There are tens of thousands that call Montana their home.  Many of these veterans have contributed massively, outside of the military, to our community, state and nation.

The Veterans in the Big Sky series airing on all Montana Radio Company stations gives a nod to these veterans that have sacrificed and contributed to our communities.  This series focuses on Veterans issues and helps to connect veterans to services that are available to them; we also educate the public on veteran-related volunteer opportunities that exist.  This audio series is 2 minutes in length.  They are also archived right here on this site.  Veterans in the Big Sky is sponsored by DirecTV.

Our most current installments are about the Valley Veterans Service Center in Hamilton.  We spoke with founder Ron Skinner and former Ravalli County Attorney George Corn about this very unique non profit that is serving as a model for other communities across the state and country.  The Service Center assists vets in filing their claims for benefits with the V.A.  The Center is operated by a Certified Claims Agent…one of only 74 in the U.S. and the only one in Montana.  You can reach the Center at (406) 363-9838 or at their website.  Tax-deductible donations are always appreciated and can be sent to the Center at 299 Fairgrounds Rd. Suite 4 Hamilton, MT 59840.
